The School Education Department of Punjab has issued an updated notification about school timings across the province. These timings are now applicable to all government schools and will remain in effect until 15 October 2025. For schools operating in a single shift, the timing schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Thursday:
Classes will start at 8:00 am and close at 1:30 pm. - Friday:
Schools will open at 8:00 am and close earlier, by 12:00 pm.
This schedule allows students and staff to maintain a consistent routine during the week, while also observing the shorter Friday schedule.
Timings for Double Shift Schools
Double shift schools will follow a different routine since two separate groups of students attend classes in the same building.
- Morning Shift (Monday to Thursday):
8:00 am to 12:30 pm - Morning Shift (Friday):
8:00 am to 12:00 pm - Evening Shift (Monday to Thursday):
1:00 pm to 5:30 pm - Evening Shift (Friday):
2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Teachers’ Duty Hours
The new notification also sets clear duty hours for teachers:

Duty from 7:45 am to 2:30 pm - Double Shift Teachers (Evening):
