Federal Directorate of Education Announces Summer Vacation 2025 Schedule For Colleges and Schools

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Government of Pakistan, has officially announced the summer vacation schedule for all educational institutions operating under its jurisdiction in Islamabad. According to the latest notification issued on May 23, 2025, all Islamabad Model Schools, Colleges, and Ex-F.G. Colleges in both urban and rural areas will observe summer holidays from June 5, 2025, to August 1, 2025. Academic activities will resume from Monday, August 4, 2025.

In a move to ensure a smooth transition into the summer break, the FDE has also revised school timings for single-shift institutions. From Monday, May 26, 2025, until the start of vacations, schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Heads of double-shift institutions have been advised to adjust their evening schedules accordingly to suit this temporary arrangement.

FDE Summer Vacation 2025 Notification

The FDE has outlined several essential tasks that all Heads of Institutions (HoIs) must oversee during this period. One of the key responsibilities is to ensure that homework is assigned based on the academic plan shared in the previous session. This is to ensure that students continue their learning during the break.

Moreover, teachers are required to participate in training sessions aimed at professional development. The schedule and participant nominations for these sessions will be shared 3 to 4 days before they begin. Additionally, all institutions must update their information on the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) and carry out necessary repair and maintenance work on school facilities.

The FDE has clarified that administrative staff and HoIs must continue to follow the official working hours from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM even during the vacation period. Undergraduate programs such as BS and ADP will continue according to their regular academic calendars. Institutions offering these programs must ensure there is no disruption in classes or related activities.

Furthermore, institutional focal persons and staff are required to be available for various ongoing and special projects. These include addressing issues related to missing facilities, IT-related tasks, organizing Summer Fiesta activities, and running IT training programs. Schools are also encouraged to organize Summer Tech Boot Camps to enhance students’ skills in technology and innovation.

To support continuous learning, libraries and IT labs must remain open during the summer break. This measure is intended to provide students with resources and access to technology, especially those involved in research or digital learning.

The FDE has directed all Area Education Officers to ensure that these guidelines are communicated effectively and implemented in true letter and spirit. The circular was issued with the approval of the Director General, FDE, and emphasizes the importance of proper academic planning and institutional readiness even during vacation periods.
