CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Launched Laptop Scheme for Students
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced two major initiatives to support students and healthcare in the province. These programs aim to provide laptops to deserving students and free dialysis services for kidney patients.
In recent developments , CM Punjab announced to start Laptop scheme in January 2025. While addressing during Honhaar Scholarship Scheme Launched, she expressed her joy and asked authorities to start laptop scheme in next year January 2025.
Laptop Distribution Program for Students
The Chief Minister has committed to distributing laptops to students within 90 days. This initiative, part of the CM Laptop and Merit Scholarship Program, focuses on providing advanced Core i7, 13th-generation laptops to high-achieving students.
Eligibility Criteria for Laptop Scheme
Students who fall under the following categories will be eligible for this scheme.
Top Students from Exams: High performers in Matriculation and Intermediate (F.Sc) exams will receive laptops.
University and College Students: A total of 20,000 university students and 14,000 college students will be included.
Field-Specific Distribution: Students from Computer Science, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, and other fields will benefit.
Regional Focus: About 32% of recipients will come from Southern Punjab.
Minority Students: Special allocation for 2,000 students from minority backgrounds.
Program Timeline
- First Phase: 5,000 laptops to be distributed within 30 days.
- Completion Goal: By February 20, 35,000 laptops will be distributed in total.
Merit Scholarships for Female Students
The Chief Minister has also launched a scholarship program to support education for girls. Under this scheme:
- 18,000 Female Students: Full tuition fees will be covered for four to five years.
- Application Process: Over 68,000 applications were received, and half have been verified.
This initiative has already led to a 15.5% rise in university enrollment, highlighting its positive impact.
